Ranger Stan and I went up on the Spanish Ballroom roof to shoo off pidgins. This is a good spot to get views of the park from so I took a few quick snapshots before going back down.
The first photo is of the arcade building and Chautauqua tower.
Here is more of the arcade and the Bumper Car Pavilion (which has been lovingly turned into a dance venue). From here you can see the pavilion's rounded roof line much better than on the ground:
This of course is the carousel building. The restroom and park office building to its left of it with the Chautauqua tower behind. Again you can see the carousel's beautifully colored roof much better from here than from ground level:
Here is a view towards the Crystal Pool entrance. In the distance you can see the main parking lot and a house in the town across the Minihaha creek valley.
This is the view towards the river and Clara Barton parkway.
Apparently the species Glen Echo Picnic Table is migratory. They spend the summer in the mulched area on the north side of the ballroom. They move to the grassy field on the south side of the ballroom for the winter. I didn't realize they had moved until I was processing these photos!
